Tea House Theatre Christmas Message
In all likelihood, if you are reading this missive, you have at one time or another spent time in the Tea House Theatre and been moved enough to take out your phone, search for our Facebook page and press ‘like’. That is a lovely thing to do. We have had so many wonderful conversations, with so many of you over the years. So many of you have said such lovely things about the ambiance, the tea, the food. Not so much the service, but, we want you to relax and take some time out. Anyhow, thanks to Margherita and her new team that is getting a lot more efficient and by jingo we are proud of our Roast. But the question we get asked most often is “where’s the theatre?” On the face of it the answer is simple. In the five and a half years we have been open we have had a number of companies flying in for a few nights. This is a wonderful thing. Our regular debating, poetry, and Jazz nights widen the scope of Theatre into one of Art House. But that is not the whole story.
We hope you might indulge us if we sing you a song. Seven winters ago, Holdfast Theatre Company came down from the Midlands in search of a home in the capital. And what a home they found. The Queen Anne, what a beauty she is, sitting on the historic Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, a beautiful place with a history of art and entertainment, palpable in the air. These theatre men set about creating the venue, their new home. It became a receiving house we welcomed so many wonderful artists through our doors. You have tried our chess puzzles, spent a lazy Sunday afternoon with a Sunday Roast, the best Full English in London and your friends and family, playing a board game. You have found a place to relax by the fireside and catch up with friends or read a book. You have found a quiet place for a meeting, you have escaped, from the hustle and bustle of London for a time and had a nice cup of tea. “Where’s the theatre?” You have all sat in it.
That being said, Holdfast Theatre Company has built a stage and written a show for its new home. If you like the Tea House, come to the Theatre and see what we do best.

We have been so very good this year. Our Christmas wish is for the Tea House Theatre extended family to come and spend an early Christmas with us on Thursday, Friday or Saturday 15th to 17th December, that they book now so that we know they are coming and that they share this Christmas Message.
