WELCOME TO THE TEA HOUSE THEATRE

An independent tea house, theatre and events venue in the heart of Vauxhall.

Housed in a beautiful Victorian former pub beside the historic Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, the Tea House Theatre is a place to eat, drink, meet, work, relax and be entertained.

By day, settle in for exceptional loose-leaf tea, hearty breakfasts, proper sandwiches, homemade cakes and freshly prepared food. By night, the Tea House comes alive with theatre, live music, jazz, poetry, murder mysteries and special events throughout the year.

We are trying to be different. We will not hurry you. If you visit us on your lunch break, then have one — take your time, enjoy your food and go back to work properly refreshed. If you want to have a meeting, we will leave you to it. If you are “working from home”, we have Wi-Fi and plenty of space to settle in.

If you have children, we have highchairs, a chest of toys and milkshakes. We always have the daily papers, so please relax, take a load off and share in what we are trying to create.

There is no rush, no corporate formula and — famously — no coffee. Just good tea, good food, conversation, creativity and a wonderfully individual atmosphere.

Come for breakfast or lunch, spend an afternoon over a pot of tea, join us for dinner and a show, or simply come in and have a cuppa.

Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol by Neil McGarry

A Christmas Carol - Tea House Theatre, London 2018

American actor Neil McGarry brings his award winning solo performance of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol to the Tea House Theatre on 6 & 7 December, 2018.

Using only Dickens’ original text, McGarry delivers a riveting performance of the classic holiday story.

Fully staged, complete with dancing, this one-man tour de force has left critics and audiences in the U.S. laughing and crying with joy – and rightly so.

Simultaneously moving and entertaining, the result is a kaleidoscope of action, humor and language, delivered with a simplicity that disarms and touches the heart.

Directed by British actor Ross MacDonald, and created under the auspices of The Bay Colony Shakespeare Company, McGarry’s performance of A Christmas Carol won "Best Solo Performance" from the Independent Reviewers of New England and was named "Best of Boston" by critic Jules Becker.

More praise for this uniquely moving production:

"Astounding and charming performance... A ‘Carol’ worth singing about... the story has never been so alive and real... ‘A Christmas Carol’ for the ages” - Jack Craib, South Shore Critic

“McGarry’s performance is extraordinary on many counts but one especially; his characters are all so sincere and innocently drawn, that you give yourself over to the story like a child … a magical alchemy absorbs and involves the audience and holds them spellbound” – Beverly Creasey, Boston Arts Review

“... deeply moving... one of the most artistic, creative and energetic performances of the 2014 Boston theater season... an early Christmas gift I will long remember” – Dr. Al Chase, White Rhino Report

“The performance … broke my heart and renewed it … captivating, funny and thought provoking. I will see this again and recommend it for all ages to experience” - Jessica Holcomb, audience member
